Mere FC was formed in the summer of 2010. The team plays in Division 2 of the St. Helens and District Combination League, playing its home fixtures at Ecclesfield Playing Fields, St. Helens The team previously played as Eddleston FC in the Wigan League, before relocating to its new home venue in Eccleston.

Team colours are Red and Black (vertical stripes) with an alternative strip of White and Black.
The team trains on a Wednesday evening and plays its fixtures on a Saturday afternoon.
Great emphasis is placed on playing quality football in a competitive but friendly atmosphere.
The Club is affiliated to the Liverpool County FA. In due course the Club hopes to bid for Charter Standard with the Football Association.
